The "Fighting Temeraire"

This painting is The "Fighting Temeraire" and was painted by J.M.W. Turner in 1839. This scene shows the final voyage of an old warship, the Temeraire, on its way to be taken apart. When this picture was finalized it was an instant hit. Turner loved his painting so much he refused to sell it and left the painting to the British nation after he died. It has been on display ever since it was put up after he died. This painting is more than the eye can see. It shows the movement from sailing ships to steam engines. Its an image of changing times.
