The Scream

This painting is called The Scream and was painted by Edvard Munch in 1893. Munch made many versions of the picture, both in color and in black and white. Munch says the picture represents something he felt, not what the painting looks like. He describes his moment by saying, "I was walking along the road with two friends. The sun was setting... Suddenly the sky turned blood-red. I stopped... My friends walked on - I stood there, trembling with fear. And i sensed a great, infinite scream pass through nature."
