Sunflowers

This painting is called Sunflowers and was painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1888-89. Vincent refused to sell any of his paintings during his lifetime, so once he died they were the most sought-after and valuable paintings in the world. Vincent also painted with very heavy layers of paint. They are so think you can still see the ridges left by the brush. He also used a new paint called chrome yellow which he felt was a symbol of friendship and happiness.
